Speaking for college students on the verge of graduation like myself, internships are an amazing opportunity for us to be introduced into our field of choice. Last year, I started to think more about what I want to do after I graduate. I like to talk to people and consider myself to have great communication skills. Considering my likes and skills, the career decision seemed simple: sales.
I found a job at the university selling advertisements for our student newspaper, The Daily Beacon. Not too long after, I reached out to Graphic Creations to see if they would be interested in advertising with us. Lucky for me, this led to a summer internship.
In March, I attended my first open house event for Graphic Creations. Though my anxiety was on the verge of taking over, I was immediately so excited to be a part of this company. Since then, I have been working in the office at Graphic Creations and learning from the many amazing people who work here.
This internship has provided me with so many learning opportunities. I have the privilege of working alongside our director of sales. Every week, we leave the office to go talk to some of our clients on campus. I have also learned more about the company in general. I have got to personally witness the number of services Graphic Creations provides (which is A LOT). I have also been able to assist on the marketing side with our webstores, which has enhanced my knowledge even more.
More recently, I have been filling in as the receptionist. I’ll be honest, it was a little scary at first. Though I thought I was already knowledgeable about Graphic Creations, I have learned so much more just from assisting customers who come to our office. I also consider being appointed as the interim receptionist a huge compliment, considering I’m the first person you see when you walk in the doors.
Interning at Graphic Creations so far has been such an amazing experience. The people who work here are some of the best people you will ever meet. Since my first day at the office, they have made me feel so welcome and have never shied away from teaching me something new. It is truly a privilege to have the opportunity to work here even just for the summer. I never thought work could be so fun!
